Candle Care

Candles last longer when they're properly burnt. One of the common misconceptions is that you can light a candle and it'll burn perfectly every time.

Different types of wax, wicks, containers, and candle types burn differently. Thankfully, the rules of candle maintenance remain the same.

Here are some simple instructions you can follow to get the most out of every candle every time.

Lighting and Burning

Before Lighting:
Always make sure your wicks are no longer than 6mm above the surface
- Take time to rid the soot off the end of the wicks to prevent 'mushrooming', giving you a cleaner burn
- Try to not place your candle in a draft, near a vent, or where there's a lot of air current, giving you a more consistent burn
- Make sure your candle is on an even/flat, heat-resistant surface, the jars can get hot

Burning:
- Burn for at least 2 - 3 hours or until the surface wax is melted to prevent tunneling
- If your candle does tunnel, wrap a piece of aluminium foil around the top of the jar of your candle, leaving it open to burn - it'll encourage the surface wax to melt
- Never leave a candle that's burning unattended, it's a safety hazard
- Use a candle snuffler to blow out candles where you can as not to disrupt the melted wax

After Burning:
- Let the candle rest on a flat surface so the melted wax can fully set
